Portrait photography is used in a variety of situations for a variety of different purposes. These can be taken as family photos with multiple people or single photographs of people used to identify them. Portraits also known as head shot in some industries is used to identified people when possible job opportunities arise and there are many applicants which need to be recognised. Most portrait photography is planned and so is the situation and the photographer will have planned how they want the subject to look. When the first portraits were taken is was always in a studio and the person would have to hold the same position for a set amount of time for the image to be captured. As the technology used has advance the time the subject has to hold the position for the image to be taken has been cut to milliseconds and no longer is specialist equipment needed, now anyone with a camera can take a portrait, not necessarily of good quality, but can capture the basic image and not only in a studio but also outside of the studio.
